Hallways are where design usually gives up. A builder-grade dome light, a long stretch of empty wall, and nothing worth looking at between one room and the next.

The Twisty is built for that wall. A single ribbon of aluminium turns through a slow spiral, and the LED sits inside the curve — so what you see on the wall is the shape and the glow it throws, not a bulb. Switched off in daylight it reads as a small sculpture. Switched on at night it puts a soft wash of light up and down the wall instead of a hard circle on the floor.

• Soft, indirect light. The spiral throws light along the wall rather than straight into the room, which is what makes a hallway feel warm instead of interrogated.

Before you buy — the honest bit

This is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in or battery light. It needs an existing wall junction box, and unless you are confident with household wiring it's a job for an electrician — typically a short one. If you're renting, or you don't have wiring in the wall you want to light, this is not the right piece and we would rather tell you now than after it arrives.

It runs on 90–260V, so it works on both US and European supply.

Free worldwide shipping on every order. We dispatch within 3–5 business days; US delivery then takes 10–14 business days, so plan on three to four weeks door to door. We'd rather say that plainly than surprise you.

You have 30 days from delivery to return it for any reason. If it arrives damaged, send us a photo and we'll replace or refund it — we won't ask you to ship a broken light back across an ocean.

Questions people ask

Can I plug this in?
No. It's hardwired into a junction box. There is no cord or plug.

Does it dim?
The fixture has its own knob switch but no built-in dimmer. It can be run from a compatible wall dimmer, though we'd suggest checking with your electrician first, as LED dimming varies by circuit.

What colour is the light?
Warm white — closer to candlelight than to daylight. It's designed for evenings, not for task work.

Can I use it in a bathroom?
It isn't rated for damp locations, so we don't recommend it inside a shower zone. Elsewhere in a well-ventilated bathroom is generally fine.

Does it come in white?
Yes — the same fixture is available in matte white.
